We want to thank everyone that participated in our Christmas Eve Event in New Orleans. We could not have asked for a better group of people to help. Everyone jumped right in and just started working in one place or another, and when we left New Orleans that afternoon, everywhere you looked there were thankful people that all got to experience God's love! We think we served approx. 160 people.
Jesus commissioned His church to reach the lost, but many churches are not doing this. There are many reasons why we are not doing this, but there is really no excuse. If missions in your church are in need of a a little CPR, please contact us and we will come to your church and show a 2 minute slide show of our children feeding and loving the homeless, then give you our testimony and show your church members just how easy it is to start a mission if you just look to see where God is already working. brownbagsandjesus@live.com

A church that assist's us providing food for the homeless and hungry is Jerusalem Gospel Church in New Orleans. They have committed to provide a great meal every Sunday at 2PM since July 26 2009. Pastor and Sis Vincent Burkhalter and their team are such a pleasure to work with and their church provides their own food, drinks and volunteers. What a blessing they have been and are to work with! We hope to have other churches join us soon.

On any given night in New Orleans, La, thousands of men, women, and children are homeless. This includes persons who are on the street; others reside in emergency shelters, hotels/motels, transitional housing programs, and permanent supportive housing programs. This number does not include many more that are living doubled or tripled up with family or friends, one step away from homelessness.
Often, homelessness is attributed to a personal problem, a choice or decision made by an individual that made them homeless. Chemical dependency or mental health issues may be cited as contributing factors to homelessness. It is true that some who are homeless suffer from mental illness (24%) and others who suffer from chemical addiction (29%), that leaves (47%) that are normal everyday people in a bad situation.
